Arwen's Oblivion Journal
- Updates
Check out
Oblivion Nightfall - my first in-game video.
January 31, 2009:
While on break between
semesters, I installed so many new mods that I decided to began playing a new
game from the beginning yet again. Some of you are likely getting
frustrated with all my new game restarts, as every restart
means at least a minor rewrite to this journal - which adds
a major delay to me being able to release new chapters.
I'm really sorry for the delay, but a large part of my
Oblivion Journal is my mod list. Besides, my story is
written about my actual game experience, and part of that
experience is starting a new game from time to time
(although I will admit that I do this a bit too often . . .
before I ever get very far in my game)
Ok, so my rewrite is well
underway, using my new site design . . . giving my fantasy
story the appearance of an old hand written journal (which
was my intent). The only problem is that there's
no easy way for me to just replace my previous chapters with
the rewrites, without having some major gaps and
discrepancies between the new versions and the older ones.
I was trying to keep the two compatible at the same time,
but that's just causing me major headaches (and taking way
too long).
So this is what I've done:
1.) Only my rewritten
chapters are linked in my Journal Index (below).
2.) But I've also provided a link at the end of the index
that will take you to the 2008 version of my Journal ( all
17 chapters).
Please note that this is a
rewrite, of my original text. I'm following the same
story line as best I can, so my character is pretty much
repeating what she did in my earlier game - in the same
order. So the main story is mostly unchanged . . . but
there are some minor changes, which resulted in some
deletes, and in some additions. The format is however
totally new (and hopefully much better than my old style),
and my Gaming Comments section at the end of each chapter
contains a lot of new material.
I love to get
email feedback . . . Writing
is a very slow process for me, and it literally takes me several days
just to write a single chapter . . . so it really helps me to know
whether my
efforts in writing this journal are still worth it, or are people getting sick of
my journals by now? What do you think of the rest of my site? Any
suggestions for how I can improve things.

Caution: Even my first chapters include
some spoilers. And the spoilers will certainly increase as I get
further into the game. So, if you are playing Oblivion, you might not
want to read any further than your own progress in the game. All
these chapters have been updated in 2009 and include my latest
recommended mods and reflect my current game.
